Maths Challenges

Using Lego or something else count 20 bricks. Find ½  of this? Find ¼ Now ¾.

Repeat with 24, 28, and 32.  

  

Get 30 coloured objects (Lego). Sort them into colours. Now make a tally to show the number of each colour. Make a bar graph to represent this.

Find 20 objects around your house. How many different ways can you divide these?

(don’t forget you need an even number in each group.

Now try 30.

Practise counting in 2’s, 3’s and 5’s.


                       

Play a game of Snakes and Ladders.

 

Choose either 20p, 50p or £1. Make a caterpillar with the fewest coins to total your amount. Can you do it a different way?

Make a Fact File

Choose your favourite animal/s. Create a factfile for this animal (you will probably need to research it using books or the internet).

Use these to create different subheadings in your factfile. Create a front cover and blurb.

Build a vehicle that can move when pushed that can carry 10 Lego bricks 

Use recycled materials to build a vehicle that you can push along the floor and will hold 10 Lego bricks.

Science Experiment

 

Next time you do your shopping see if you can get any celery and food colouring.

 

Mix a small amount of food colouring in water and put each different colour in a cup. Put the celery in the cups.

Watch and wait. Write down what happens.
