Roald Dahl

The Twits, by Roald Dahl, are truly disgusting characters as Y2 have been finding out!

As well as writing character descriptions of the nasty pair and inventing a new trick to play on each other, they collaborated to make a really horrible beard for Mr Twit.

Continuing with our Roald Dahl topic, the children made their own version of George’s Marvellous Medicine.

We had fantastic medicine, gorgeous medicine and gross medicine!

Marwell Zoo

Our trip to the Marwell Zoo was wonderful, the weather was good, the children well behaved and engaged brilliantly and we all had a great final Devonshire school trip.

The children got to see a wide range of animals and their varied habitats.

Each child had their own favourite animal that we saw but the giraffes, meerkats, penguins and zebras were always near the top of their lists.

My Dog Sighs

We studied the local artist, My Dog Sighs, which the children loved because they could create their own version of his Everyman character.

They were thrilled that they were able to spot work of his around the city and even more excitingly, he came to visit us! The children (and adults) were thrilled.

Southsea Zoo

During our art week we also had a visit from another local artist, Southsea Zoo.

She shared her work with us and supported the children in creating a piece of art in her style.

Vehicles

Our final topic this year was making moving vehicles.

For this we investigated how best to attach axles and wheels to the body.

We then used hacksaws to cut our axles to the correct length, before attaching the wheels.

They all looked AMAZING when they were finished and the children were very proud of themselves.

We tested them in the hall and they moved beautifully.
