Summer Term 2021

Plants

During the early part of the summer term we found out about plants.

We learnt about the conditions a plant needs to grow and then planted our own beans.

We kept a weekly diary to show how our beans changed over time.

Jack and the Beanstalk

We had great fun listening to and acting out the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. In the classrooms a beanstalk appeared with a giant at the top.

We then created our own land at the top of the Beanstalk. There was Upside down land and the land of animals.

The Seasons

Throughout the year we studied how the trees in our local environment change. During the summer we created our own trees.

Each group had a different tree to study and found out about how the leaves vary and what else grows on the tree.

Lowry

This term’s art week used LS Lowry’s paintings for inspiration.

We carefully looked at the style in which Lowry printed and then used paint, pastels and chalk to print our own Lowry style pictures.

Victorians (Manor Farm Trip)

We had great fun going back in time and finding out about what life was like 100 years ago.

We looked at Victorian artefacts and tried to guess what they were used for.

We had a very exciting trip to Manor Farm.

We didn’t think it was much fun to go to school in Victorian times and all agreed that life is a lot easier now than it was then.

We all enjoyed ourselves enormously and had great fun with the hands-on learning we experienced.

Sports Day

We had a really enjoyable Sports Day morning. There were a great variety of activities such as hurdles and ball balancing.
