Summer Term 2021

Nocturnal Animals

The children started the summer term by finding out all about nocturnal animals, their behaviours and habitats.

Some of the children made PowerPoints about them.

There was some fantastic non-fiction writing where the children enjoyed sharing their knowledge.

Roald Dahl

The Twits, by Roald Dahl, are truly disgusting characters as Y2 have been finding out!

As well as writing character descriptions of the nasty pair and inventing a new trick to play on each other, they collaborated to make a really horrible beard for Mr Twit.
Continuing with our Roald Dahl topic, the children made their own version of George’s Marvellous Medicine.

We had fantastic medicine, gorgeous medicine and gross medicine! Some children even made another version of their medicine at home, which they brought in to share with the class.

Manor Farm

Our trip to the Manor Farm was wonderful, the weather was good, the children well behaved and engaged brilliantly and we all had a great final Devonshire school trip. It was a great hands-on opportunity for the children to find out about rural life in the past.

Art Week

We studied the local artist, My Dog Sighs, which the children loved because they could create their own version of his Everyman character.

Also, they were thrilled that they were able to spot work of his around the city.

DT - Vehicles

Our final topic this year was making moving vehicles. For this we investigated how best to attach axles and wheels to the body.

We then used handsaws to cut our axles to the correct length, before attaching the wheels.

They all looked AMAZING when they were finished and the children were very proud of themselves.

We tested them in the hall and they moved beautifully.

Sports Day

The children enjoyed sports day

We all split up into coloured teams and then enjoyed a variety of activities.!

A big thank you to all of the parents who came to cheer us on and support us.
