Spring Term 2026

People who help us/ Wonder Visit

One of our topics this term was learning all about people who help us.

In class, we learned about people who help us in the community such as vets, paramedics and police officers.

The children explored this through role play, dressing up and adapted learning activities.

As part of this topic, the children went on a school trip to Wonder.

They absolutely loved dressing up and being able to explore and be lots of different people who work within the community and even outer space!

Numeracy

Numeracy has been very fun and engaging for the children this term and they have learned about the properties of 2D and 3D shapes and measurement and capacity alongside their key mathematical skills.

The children really liked building towers with the 3D shapes and this involved problem-solving skills such as realising that only cones and pyramids could go at the top of the tower.

Our sensory capacity sessions were a hit with the children as they enjoyed pouring, emptying and filling containers with glittery water and fruity water and learning key words such as “full” and “empty”.

Life Skills

As part of PSHE, we have introduced taking our children to the local shop to buy snacks and resources for our classroom.

This is a really good opportunity for children to learn about road safety when crossing the road, becoming familiar with common items found in the household and enhancing their communication and interaction skills when paying for their items.

The children are really enjoying this experience.
