English and History – Victorian Schools

In history we have been learning about Victorian schools.

Try being a historian and compare this Victorian school with your school.

How are things different and how are they similar?

Can you draw a picture of your classroom or something from school and write an independent sentence about how it is different or similar to a Victorian school. Remember to use a capital letter and a full stop.

Mathematics

This is a great opportunity to learn to tell the time to o’clock and half past.

Watch this video introducing you to an analogue clock.

If you don’t have a clock at home to practise telling the time on, you can use this interactive clock instead.

Why don’t you try making your own teaching clock to help you practise?

Use a paper plate or draw around a plate on a piece of card and cut it out.

Use your clock to solve problems involving time. Here are some examples to get you started.

Make telling the time part of your daily routine.

Think about what time of the day you do certain things such as having breakfast, going for a walk or going to bed.

Think about what time it will be in one hour and what you will be doing then.

What were you doing two hours ago and what time was it?

Maths - number bonds of 20

Find all the ways of making 20 by adding two numbers.

Here are a few to get you started.

0 + 20 = 20

1 + 19 = 20

2 + 18 = 20

3 + 17 = 20

Maths - 8 fact families

Now choose one of the number bonds and write the four addition and four subtraction calculations using the three numbers.

Remember to check they make sense!

Can you use a bar model or a part whole model to represent the calculation?

Science – seasons

Watch this video about the four seasons.

Can you make your own season’s wheel?

Think about the weather and temperature during each season. Remember, it can be sunny or rainy in any of the four seasons.

What clothes would you expect to wear throughout the year?

Watch this video and then have a go at the activity. Finally test yourself on everything you have learned by having a go at the seasons quiz!
